Kingfisher Self-catering Cottage Plettenberg Bay offers a luxury Plett farmstay nestled on a beautiful horse farm near Wittedrift. With no loadshedding (solar power) and good WiFi, it offers the best of both worlds: tranquil farm life and modern conveniences.
This renovated cottage became available for holiday stays in Dec 2018 and has proven to be a hit since! Sleeping from 1-4 persons in a 1-bedroomed cottage (main bedroom with a extra-length Queen Bed & a Double Bunk bed in the lounge), it is ideal for singles, couples or small families.
The open-plan lounge/dining area opens onto a private stoep with built-in braai. The kitchen is fully equipped for self-catering. The bathroom is spacious, with a large shower. The loo is separate. Park your car right by your cottage under a shady tree.
Chill with your book or some board games, enjoy the abundant bird life while strolling around our beautiful farm, pick seasonal herbs and fruit from the food forest surrounding the cottage, or enjoy mountain biking, horse-riding or a pony ride. Kingfisher Cottage offers a farm-stay in easy reach of Plettenberg Bay so that you can also enjoy the restaurants, beaches and other attractions our beautiful area is famous for.
Kingfisher Cottage boasts a lovely private stoep with comfy chairs and a lovely braai. We provide some fire wood for your first braai and you are welcome to purchase more wood from us. The garden is enclosed though we sadly don't accept pets; too many animals on the farm! The bedroom has its own private entrance at the back of the little garden.
The fully equipped kitchen enables fully self-catering accommodation: there is a large fridge/freezer, a 4-plate gas hob, toaster, all crockery, cutlery and cookware you need. There are recycling and composting bins (your peels will feed the pigs!) We provide dishwashing liquid, salt & pepper and clean, filtered drinking water.
The open-plan lounge area contains seating and a double bunk bed. There is a large dining table, ideal for family meals, board games, or for the little ones to sit and draw or colour in. We provide a folder with information about your cottage, the farm and what there is to do in the area - bring your camera and binoculars!
The spacious cottage bathroom offers a roomy basin and private shower with wonderful hot water (gas geyser). The loo is separate, with its own small hand-basin. We use a septic tank. Please use water sparingly and to hang your towels to dry as we only change linen and towels every 4th day.
Kingfisher Cottage with a fireplace in the open-plan lounge / dining area will keep you very cosy. The cottage is cool in summer due to the shade trees and tiled floor. There is no TV & Cell reception is patchy. We offer free Wifi (Satelite so there may be some lag, but ok for Netflix, Email & Whatsap Calls).
What makes Kingfisher Cottage memorable, are the little touches and the eco-friendliness. Your hosts try to anticipate your needs and you will find the design of the cottage simple yet comfortable. We want your stay to be memorable for all the right reasons.

Children love horses, and we love teaching kids how to interact with horses, so we offer a discount for kids and teens riding several times over holidays, in order to make it really affordable for parents.
The kids generally end up wanting to help tack up horses, catching, feeding and grooming them - which is great for all!
They end up spending time outdoors, getting exposed to the different facets of farm life and they are moving instead of sitting on their phones.
And... parents get a well-deserved little break ;)
