Boschrivier Farm & Stables bring you horse trails, outrides and equitrailing of different durations. Enjoy beautiful views of the scenic Titsikamma mountains and fantastic bird viewing. Traverse open fields, forest, cross a river and you can trot & canter if you are confident and competent.
Our well-schooled trail horses are suitable for beginners, intermediate and experienced riders from age 12 and up. Please book our Plett horse trails in advance and advise any special needs.
We are also a popular pony party venue and the kids of our self-catering cottage guests or farm visitors can book a pony ride - sure-fire way to bring joy! We offer horse-riding lessons, though our capacity is limited. Consider combining a holiday with a horseriding immersion experience - ask about our special Riding Holiday Packages.

Our Plettenberg Bay Equitrailing outrides are popular. Our qualified and very experienced horse trail guide & horse-trainer, Nicky, is well-loved for her intuitive, gentle way with horses and riders. We cater for all levels from absolute beginners to more experienced riders, so all are welcome. We can take from 1 - 5 riders on an outride. Our trails have a duration of 45 minutes, 1 hour or 1h30min.
Whether a cottage guest or visitor to Boschrivier, you can book a children's pony ride on one of our own well-loved rescue ponies that we re-schooled to ensure the utmost safety of our clients. Our experienced horse-riding instructor is popular, so our horse-riding lessons are usually fully booked, but enjoy a pony ride & try your hand at mounted archery! Book your pony ride in advance.
Our well-trained ponies are also available for the popular kids' pony parties that we host at our venue on the river edge. Kids love the combination of the outdoors, the shallow river nearby, and being able to ride a pony! Let us help you take the stress out of a kids' party - discuss your requirements with us and we can help with activities and more. You'll have very happy kids on your hands...
We are passionate about introducing people to horses and helping young and old feel comfortable and confident around horses. Parents are often amazed by how even awkward children blossom around horses. We take time to help people with the basics while equally appreciating seasoned riders.
Please do book your outride online soonest to avoid disappointment as we really are popular and easily get booked up, especially in holiday periods.
We also offer Stabling, Livery and Equine Bodywork services - you'll find us to be very dedicated horse lovers!
Please note:
While online bookings are limited to 4 to ensure we absolutely always have enough fresh horses, we can take a family group of 6 people by prior arrangement, as we have varied sized horses and ponies.
We can also accommodate requests for younger children to ride with families.
We now offer great Riding Holiday Packages (See Self-Catering Cottage Page) - ideal for adults or kids wanting to learn to ride or those who would enjoy multiple outrides!
